Born and brought up in Hyderabad, the versatile and beloved makeup artist, Sandy has traced his journey
through the world of makeup with passion and a drive to improve himself. Sandy’s foray into makeup was a journey
through many fields that gives his work a truly magical touch.
From a voice and accent trainer to choreographer and a performing artist, he had been a student of the
Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts for many years before directing his talents towards the makeup
and fashion industry. His work has always been immersed in some art or the other while working
in the corporate world where he had organised various corporate annual events until 2010.
It was after this year that he decided to master the art of makeup and began to pursue the study on his
own to create a name for himself. Self-taught, the stylist has gathered full-time experience in
the makeup industry since 2010. This is exactly what makes his craft unique and
masterfully artistic.
While travelling, he was trained in hairstyling by the maestro Mustafa Avici in New York and Charbel Rizk
from Abu Dhabi. He has also worked with the makeup giant, Elton J. Fernandez as an assistant makeup artist
for the art film, ‘I Am’. His work got recognised and created opportunities to work in the fashion and beauty
industry. This experience is what motivated him to start freelancing for various editorials, advertisements,
photography events and weddings. Few of the biggest platforms and magazines for which the artist
has lent his talent include VOGUE, Grazia, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and HT Brunch and with local publications
like You & I Magazine, Wow! Hyderabad, Red Magazine, Tulip Magazine, Hyderabad Paws etc.
He has become a trusted name in the fashion industry as Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahilani,
Shantanu and Nikhil, Shravan Kumar, Archana Rao and Shriya Som are some of the designers
whose vision and style are reflected in Sandy’s work.
The first fashion show the stylist worked for was Karan Johar and Varun Bahl’s collection for Taj Khazana,
2011 and then followed many others such as Wedding Times Fashion Fiesta by Manish Malhotra and
Tarun Tahiliani, An ODE by Shravan Kumar, BMW show and more. Sandy has been a jury member
and mentor for contestants of the esteemed beauty pageant, Miss Hyderabad since its inception in 2011.
Whether it is stunning red carpet looks or public appearances, he is the favourite stylist and makeup
artist for South Indian actresses such as Lakshmi Manchu, Regina Cassandra, Rakul Preet Singh,
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Priya Waj Anand, Sunaina, Pragya Jaiswal, Kajal Aggarwal, Taapsee Pannu
are a few more actresses that have opted for his work on many occasions. He has also worked with
superstars such as Jacqueline Fernandez,Ram Charan Tej, Vijay Devarakonda and Allu Arjun garnering
much appreciation, too. The artist has been a long time favourite of Upasana Kamineni Konidela
for hairstyling and makeup. He has crafted stellar looks for celebrities at award shows such as
IIFA South, Filmfare Awards, SIIMA and Stardust Achievers Awards.
The Bollywood big screen debut for Sandy as a solo makeup artist was for actress Priya Anand for the
movie ‘English Vinglish’. Starting from our very own Miss World, Manushi Chillar to
supermodels like Carol Gracias, Natasha Ramachandran, Rikee Chatterje etc are close affiliations
of the makeup guru and prefer his versatile work and tastes.
As an experienced and skilled artist, his style is natural and highlights facial features with subtlety
and grace. Sandy holds workshops to spread his knowledge and share his craft with fellow artists as well.
